          The third successive struggle program of AIPEU-GDS (NFPE) on 32 Charter of Demands, Dharna infront of Dak Bhawan, New Delhi has been staged successfully with the participation of General Secretaries of affiliated Unions of NFPE, NFPE office bearers and CHQ office bearers of GDS Union.

        Dharna program was presided by Com.I.S.Dabas, General Secretary, P-IV (CHQ) and inaugurated by Com.Giriraj Singh, President, NFPE & General Secretary, R-III. Com.M.Krishnan, Secretary General, NFPE & General Secretary, Gr.C.,  Com.K.V.Sridharan, Leader, JCM (Staffside) & former General Secretary Gr.C., Com.K.Raghavendran, former Secretary General, NFPE, Com.S.Raghupathi, Asst. Secretary General, NFPE, Com.T.Satyanarayana, General Secretary, AIP AEA, Com.Appanraj, former General Secretary, AIPSBCOEA, Com.R.Sivannarayana, President, Gr.C (CHQ), Com.N.Subramanyan, Dy. General Secretary, Gr.C (CHQ), Com.Balwinder Singh, Financial Secretary, Gr.C (CHQ) and comrades of Delhi Circle were participated.

        The GDS CHQ represented by Com.P.Pandurangarao, General Secretary, Com.R.Dhanraj, Dy. General Secretary, Com.V.Murukan, Financial Secretary, Com.Chandra N. Chaudhary, Orgg.        The program concluded with the vote of thanks paid by Com.R.Dhanraj, Dy. General Secretary, by extending revolutionary greetings and heartfelt thanks to the leaders of NFPE for their support and participation in the dharna and made it successful.

PLI / RPLI Workshop of Head Quarters Region conducted successfully at Cuttack

 

         With an objective for sharing information  relating to PLI and RPLI schemes, underwriting issues eligibility condition, premium loading, marketing skills, after sales issues and customer relationship management etc., one workshop for PLI and RPLI sales forces comprising Departmental Employees, Direct Agents, Field Officers and Gramin Dak Sevaks from the Head Quarters Region was organized on 20.07.2013 by Cuttack North Division  at Gandhi Bhawan Auditorium Hall, Rastrabhasa Prachar Sabha, Cuttack 73001.

The Workshop was inaugurated by Sj. S P Rajlingam, PMG Berhampur Region who delivered an eloquent speech on Marketing Intelligence. Attending the Workshop, while Sj. P K Singh, DPS ( HQ) explained the marketing business plans for PLI and RPLI, Sj. P K Bisoi, Postmaster General, Sambalpur narrated marketing action plan for PLI/RPLI. Sj. Rabindranath Jena, retired Principal, Sales Training Centre, LIC of India who was the special invitee to the Workshop discussed on after sale services in PLI/RPLI.

Providing training inputs for the sales forces, Sri S K Mohapatra, DDM (PLI) conducted a quiz programme very nicely. Dividing all the participants from 8 Divisions of the Head Quarters Region into four categories Division-wise , viz. GDS, Direct Agents, P As & Postmasters and IPs & ASPs, the DDM asked 32 questions to each group and distributed prizes to the officials who gave correct answer.

The programme was well organized by Sri G C Mohanty, SPOs, Cuttack North Division and participated by as many as 400 staff members including GDS  from the Head Quarters Region.

While the Workshop was jointly anchored by Ms. Madhusmita Padhi, IP, Cuttack North  Sub Division and Sri Sitanath Das, ASP (OD), Cuttack North Division, vote of thanks was given by Sri C M Mohapatra, SPOs, Balasore Division.

Bhubaneswar Division was attended by Sri A K Nayak, SSPOs, Sri B K  Patra, ASPOs(OD), Sri G Kar, ASPOs(HQ), Sri B Behera, IPO (PG), Sri S Sethi, IP, Bhubaneswar South Sub Division, Sri K K Das, IP, Nimapara Sub Division, B Samal, Postmaster, Ashoknagar MDG, Sri I Mohanty, Postmaster, Bhoinangar SO, Sri J K Routray, Postmaster Grade-I, Pipli SO, Sri G N Kar, OA, Sri J K Mohapatra, OA, Sri R K Gangoi, OA, Divisional Office along with the Direct Agents and some GDS.

Pension scheme: Cabinet to take call on new withdrawal rules tomorrow

Subscribers with accumulated funds of Rs 2 lakh or less may be allowed to withdraw the entire amount on retirement.

New Delhi, July 9:  

The Cabinet may discuss changes in the withdrawal rules for the New Pension Scheme (NPS) on July 11.

The proposal is to permit a subscriber to withdraw his/her entire fund on retirement, if the amount is Rs 2 lakh or lower.

The condition in all such cases would be that a subscriber would have to make a request for an ‘opt-out’ option. At present, over 4,400 accounts have accumulated amounts of Rs 2 lakh or lower. Out of these, nearly 680 have made a request for withdrawal. However, the proposal, once approved, will not apply to accounts opened under the Swavalamban scheme.

Normally, an individual can exit either at or after the age of 60. However, from March 2013, subscribers were allowed to stay invested till the age of 70, but with some conditions, such as no contribution or part withdrawal between the ages of 60 and 70.

At the time of exit, 60 per cent of the total amount is given as lumpsum, while 40 per cent is used to purchase an annuity, which provides lifetime pension to an employee and his dependent parents/spouse at the time of retirement.

The problem being faced was that the accumulated amount was inadequate for pension payouts. “Accumulated funds of less than Rs 2 lakh are not enough to purchase an annuity or annuity providing for decent monthly income,” a senior Government official said.

He said subscribers who have not made a request for withdrawal as lumpsum may like to continue, which is why a specific ‘opt out’ option is being proposed, rather than a default option.

NPS is a contributory scheme, which was made mandatory for Union Government employees (except those joining the Armed Forces) joining on or after January 1, 2004. Under the scheme, an employee contributes 10 per cent of his/her salary and dearness allowance and an equal contribution is made by the Union Government.

However, there is no contribution from the Government in respect of individuals who are not Government employees.

Various States have also introduced NPS for their employees. Currently, there are nearly 27 lakh Central and State Government employees under the NPS. Individuals can also open accounts under the scheme.
