DOP PLANS TO RECRUIT AROUND 55,000 GDSS THROUGH ONLINE MODE IN NOVEMBER: B.V SUDHAKAR

 

HYDERABAD, SEPTEMBER 16:  The Departments of Posts plans to recruit around 55,000 Grameen Dak Sevaks through online mode in November, B.V Sudhakar, Secretary, Department of Posts, said.

            Addressing a Press Conference here on Friday, Sudhakar informed that the software required for online recruitment is at the testing stage and the online method will ensure transparency in this recruitment

.

            In order to address the grievances of the postal customers, the National Service Call Centre - 1924 - was launched on September 12, 2016. Customers can call from any network to this number and they will be given a unique 11-digit ticket ID to check the status of their complaint. Nearly 98 per cent grievances and complaints were resolved, he said in a statement.

Post Payment Bank

            Explaining about the Post Payment Bank, he said the focus will be on Government to customer services by providing services like Direct Benefits Transfer, which could also be helpful in the financial inclusion. There will be no lending to the customers and deposits can be made up to Rs. 1 lakh.

            Total 650 branches of post payment bank will be set up by May 2017 and nearly one lakh employees will work on this set up, he added.

Solar power

            Sudhakar also informed to harness solar power, 4000 Postal buildings across country will utilize solar power in the coming days. To start with Postal Department headquarters at New Delhi will install Solar Power panels which can save up to Rs. 17 lakh of monthly power bill.

            The business across Postal services registered growth with 3.8% growth in unregistered postal traffic, 6% in registered posts, 7.3% in Speed Post, 6.8% in savings banks mobilization and 25% growth in Philately, during 2015-16 as against 2014-15, he said.

It has been decided that casual workers working in offices having a five day week may be allowed one day paid weekly off provided they have worked for a minimum of 40 hours during the said week. The relevant provisions of the Department of Personnel and Training OM No.49014/2/86-Estt (C) 7th June, 1988 are amended to this extent.

The National Joint Council of Action (NJCA) met at the Staff Side office, JCM, New Delhi today at 11:30 AM as scheduled. During the discussions, the Convener received an invitation from the Honourable Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh. The following members of the NJCA met the Home Minister in a delegation.

The issues in the Charter of demands were discussed with special reference to the 7^th CPC related demands. The delegation brought to the notice of the Honourable Home Minister that the NJCA has not received a communication from the Government over the assurances held out on 30^th June, 2016, when the NJCA delegation met the Honourable Home Minister, Finance Minister and the Railway Ministers. On 30^th June 2016, the Government had assured to refer the revision of Minimum wage and fitment formula to a Committee. The Finance Minister has also clarified that the Government has taken the decision to implement the recommendation of the 7^th CPC to bring about parity between the past and present pensioners. They added that such a communication in confirmation of the assurances will enable them to take a decision over the strike action which is to commence from 11^th July, 2016.

The Honourable Home Minister assured the delegation that the Government will honour the assurances held out to the NJCA leaders on 30^th June, 2016 and accordingly the Honourable Finance Minister, Shri Arun Jaitly will issue a Press Statement today, with copy to NJCA.

After receipt of the copy of the Press Communique issued by the Honourable Finance Minister, the NJCA will take a final decision.

Reference is invted to this Directorate order No.17-39/6/2012-GDS dated 14-01-2015 vide which the revised eligibility criteria for engagement to GDS posts was prescribed. 2.            It has been observed that due to maximum age limit of 30 years many of GDS engaged in their prime youth tend to leave for want of better opportunities and the needy and competent persons who have ceased the maximum agae limit criteria are deprived of the opportunity. 3.            Further reference is invited to this Directorate order No.17-39/7/2012-GDS dated 14-01-2015 and letter No.17-39/2012-GDS dated 16-09-2015 in para 2(b) (vii) of aforementioned letter it has been stipulated that “the authority higher to the recruiting authority will nominate a committee constituting of three members including recruiting authority with two others not below the rank of Inspector Posts. Beside the said authority will decide the date on which such committee will meet for finalizing selection” 4.            The above orders have been reviewed and the following amendments are approved by the competent authority and shall take into effect from the date of issue of this letter. (a)    The entry age to the GDS posts shall be raised up to 40 years of age (further relaxable by 03 years to those belonging to OBC categories and 05 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST.
