Combined meeting by Odisha State CoC and Circle JCA held successfully on 02.02.2013 in the campus of Bhubaneswar GPO for effective conductance of all India two days strike on 20th & 21st February, 2013

As per the programme fixed by the Confederation a grand meeting was conducted at 5.30PM on 02.02.2013  in the campus of Bhubaneswar GPO with participation of leaderships from different Central Govt. establishments stationed at Bhubaneswar including the Circle J C A comprising NFPE, FNPO, AIPEU GDS ( NFPE) and NUGDS.

The meeting was arranged by the Divisional JCA, Bhubaneswar leaded by Com. B Samal, Divisional Secretary, AIPEU, Group-C, Bhubaneswar Division and presided by Com. M M Samal, President , State CoC, Odisha.

Addressing the meeting, Com. K K N Kutty, Secretary General, Confederation justified the reasons for going on a two-days strike which is unique in nature to take 11 central trade unions affiliated to all the national political parties including the ruling Congress party let NDA and all the Central Govt. employees under one umbrella  to raise voice against the anti-people, anti-employee and anti-working class policies of the present Govt. He narrated this proposed strike as quite historic since such a strike has never been conducted earlier neither before nor after independence. Even the members of public supporting the ruling party are disgusted with the retrograde policies of the ruling party which has compelled the INTUC affiliated trade unions to join in the proposed strike. Com. Kutty suggested the gathering to convince not only to the staff members but to the members of public as well how the nation as a whole is being cheated by the present Govt. starting from price rise to PDS. The Central Govt. employees are, he told the right persons to convince the members of public. The present condition of the BSNL employees is a burning example of the evil consequences of corporatization which everyone should realize and stand against the privatization , downsizing and corporatization of Central Govt. establishments.
The recommendations of the 6th CPC is fully irrational for which the Confederation is demanding to do away with all the ambiguities / anomalies thorough setting up of a new Pay Commission , i. e. Seventh Central Pay Commission. He strongly opposed the new pension scheme and PFRDA.
Once upon a time, the postman of India Post was the most respected Govt servant in the nation. But now the things have been drastically changed. Govt. is planning to convert this service department to a commercial one through amendment of Indian Post Office Act and introducing unviable services/products which need to be opposed strongly.
The Circle Secretaries of P-III and R-III asked some questions in connection with the anomalies arising out of the recommendations of the 6th CPC and Com. Kutty assured to look into the same.
Narrating the role of NFPTE / NFPE in giving so many benefits to the employees / working class starting from defined working hours, leave, bonus, D A, OTA etc. Com. Pranab Bhattachrjee, General Secretary, AIPAOEU, CHQ impressed upon all that we can achieve anything through united struggle only and thus the proposed two-days strike on 20th 21st February, 2013 is the right time to answer for the purpose. Briefly describing the charter of demands, Com. Bhattacharjee represented mathematically the loss sustained by each Central Govt. employee per month due to non-merger of DA with Pay and requested the gathering to bring a thundering success to the proposed strike.
“ Since the charter of demand is not restricted to the employees only but includes the general problems of the members of public from price rise to PDS, let the public know that the Central Govt employees are not only interested for achieving their demands but are also showing concern for the aam admi” told Com. R C Mishra, Circle Secretary, P-III and Vice President, CHQ.
briefing the demands in nutshell, Com. R N Dhal, Leader, NFPE and Circle Secretary, R – III assured the Confederation to bring total success to the two-days strike." We had made the 12.12.12 one day strike successful in spite of compulsions beyond our control and we are committed to bring an unprecedented success to the forthcoming strike", he told.
Citing one example of victimization, Com. Damodar Mishra, Circle Secretary, NAPE, Group-C told that unity would be the basic requirement for all struggle movements. Irrespective of cadre and union, if we will not be united for the common benefits, then we must suffer.
Among others, Com. S S Samanta, C S, AIPAOEU, Com. B C Dash, Divisional Secretary, AIPEU, Group-C, Cuttack City Division, Com. H K Mohanty, C S, R – III, Com. Gautam Das, C S, NUGDS and many leaders from CGWB, CPWD, Income Tax, Institute of Physics, RMRC, GSI, ASI, Provident Fund, Text Book Press, AG, Postal Printing Press etc. had also attended the meeting.
The vote of thanks was given by Com. B Samal, Divisional Secretary, AIPEU, Group-C, Bhubaneswar Division with assurance to make the strike cent percent successful not only in Bhubaneswar but in Odisha Circle as well.
