INDEFINITE STRIKE IS DEFERRED BY CONFEDERATION AND NFPE.

Secretary department of posts held discussion with NFPE on 13.01.09 on postal chatter of demand. The secretary department of post has admitted that abnormal delay in submission of report by Sri P.k . Gopinath and the staff site pointed that this type of undue delay would cause serious problems in implementation of the report with the modifications sought us if the election commission announced elections in February. Secretary post coincided that their has been some delay of the part of the Gopinath
Committee and intrusted that the report should be submitted to the department by the Senior officers committee without forther delay. The secretary posts also assured NFPE that will before the election commission announcement the implementation would be ensured and by the end of January 2009 the issues would be sent to cabinet. NFPE reminded that the department has assured to provide us adequate opportunity for placing our view points before sending the proposals to the cabinet approval. Secondly the meeting of National executive of the confederation was held at New Delhi on 15.01.09 to review the preparation for an indefinite strike action scheduled to commence from 20Th January 2009. The meeting heard the secretaries of the affiliated Associations/ Federations and unions as also the secretaries of the Co-ordination Committees. The comrades who were deputed to attend the State level conventions also made their observations at the meeting. Most of the Speakers expressed the need for further time reach our the membership in far flung areas. The meeting came to conclusion that more intensive mobilization and campaign programmes are needed to successfully carry out the strike action with full participation of membership. It was therefore decided not to commence the strike action from 20Th January, 2009but defer the same to future date and carry out an intensified campaing amongst the mass of the employees. All affiliates will advise their state leadership to visit all branches and hold meetings to explain the Charter of Demands, educate and mobilise their employees for the eventual strike action. Campain materials circulated by the Confederation (CHQ) will be translated into vernacular and circulate amongst the members. The said campaing should be concluded by 15.02.09 .The National executive will met again in February to take further decision in the matter. The representatives of the confederation were to meet the Hon'ble Prime minister on 15.01.09 in a delegation with com. Basudeb Acharya, MP to seek his intervention in bringing about a settlement of Charter of Demands. This meeting could not take place due to the preoccupation of the Hon'ble prime Minister. The meeting is likely to take place on 22Nd January,2009.
